How can we simplify our lives with this simple statement, “Less is More”?
This art form is something worth mastering, especially in this current day and age.
Why, you may ask?
Just think about it, in this society, we are bombarded by ads displaying the latest trends and things we absolutely must need!
Or do we?
I guess you can say that we’re all under the trance of consumerism?
It’s all fun and games until you’re physically and mentally overwhelmed by it all, and that’s okay. It happens to the best of us, I’m sure.
So how can we pause and drain the noise?
“Less is More“
– Ludwig Mies van der Rohe
There are many ways we can implement this statement into our lives.
For this post I have listed 3 ways you can do this as seen below:
- By spending less you’ll have more money:
Problem –
This is something I’ve struggled with for a really long time, but I’ve found that the things we buy eventually lose their worth over time and end up being thrown into storage. That’s all good until it starts to clutter your space and get in the way of your day-to-day activities.
Solution –
An alternative to this is to save your money for future security and comfort. You can also budget to purchase the things you actually need.
2. By having less, you’ll have more space:
Problem –
Living in a cluttered space with things you don’t regularly use is not worth having around. A messy living space can significantly impact a person’s mood, so how can we fix this?
Solution –
The key is to learn how to let go of things we don’t need, so we have more free space to enjoy our daily activities, such as watching tv, doing yoga, or just relaxing on the sofa.
3. By having less clothes, you’ll have more closet space:
Problem –
We all want new clothes and a new outfit to wear every time we go out, I most definitely do!
But is that what we really want? Or is that the fashion trends and expectations talking?
Solution –
Buy clothes you know you can wear with different outfits, such as having a few pairs of jeans of different styles, tops and jackets/jumpers that can really make an outfit unique yet fashionable.
The goal is to purchase fewer clothes and be able to create outfits with what you have. Making your wardrobe feel less cluttered and easily organised.
(But this is not to say that you HAVE to have fewer clothes, instead, it’s removing the clothes you don’t wear anymore and being able to recycle outfits pushing those societal fashion expectations out of your mind)
THAT’S A WRAP
Achieving this way of life is possible and can really help with controlling emotions such as feeling confused, exhausted and overwhelmed.
I’ll be posting more on this soon.
In the meantime do check out my other posts that can help with settling into a minimalistic mindset!
