I have recently developed the habit of writing for a couple of minutes in the morning, so I can declutter my mind and tune in to the start of a new day.
Morning pages are essentially a stream of consciousness, where you physically write down the thoughts in your mind.
The beauty of this form of journaling, is that there are no rules and no effort is required for you to do this, you just need paper and a pen and off you go.
It’s normal for your mind to jump from thought to thought, so as you write you can simply jump to a new sentence i.e. a new thought, and continue with writing. Small knick-knacks like punctuation, grammar, and all rules about language formation aren’t important when writing your morning pages. This is because, your morning pages are meant for you and only you, and is a form of self-expression.
Personally, I’ve found morning pages to be very therapeutic, where sometimes I will wake up and write a page in an A5 notebook. Or I will go, sit outside and write a page there.
I’ve also found that the environment in which you write, plays a crucial role when it comes to setting the tone for the day ahead. It especially helps with your flow of thoughts as the fresh air wakes you up and induces a sense of calm in your mind.
I hope you enjoyed this post!
Thank you!! xx
