Rapunzel syndrome is a psychiatric disorder called TRICHOTILLOMANIA, where a person pulls out their own hair.

The individual can even swallow their hair, this is called TRICHOPHAGIA. This is a fatal condition, as the human body cannot digest hair and solidifies in the stomach and intestines. This is called, TRICHOBEZOAR. This can create abdominal cavities and eventually septic shock i.e. multi organ failures
